Friendster blogs’ new look powered by Wordpress

I got an email from Friendster a few days ago to test-drive the new version of Friendster Blogs (Blog 2.0). They are planning to roll out the new look to all Friendster members’ blogs this week.

My comments?

1) I like the new look better. It is powered by Wordpress and for those of us who have used this platform in our other blogs, it’s a good thing. There are about 21 themes to choose from and though we can not add any plugins yet, it’s better than before. To make my blog unique, I picked a theme that has a customizable header so that I can upload my own header photo. I also added some widgets to suit my needs.

I noticed that I have two versions of blogs right now and I don’t know if and when they are going to delete the older one. The two photos shown below are directly uploaded from my computer.

Below is my old blog that can still be accessed at this link: http://nanayanna.blogs.friendster.com/

2) I like it that I can now embed or link photos to my blog post by directly pointing it to my already uploaded photos. This was not possible before after I used up all the allowed uploads per month, so some of my blog posts ended up without photos. That was really discouraging.

For example, this sunset photo is a picture I have at one of my Friendster albums. So, I just copy and paste the Photo Embed Code found under the photo, then I pasted it here in my post. Note that you have to click the HTML view when you paste the code and then switch to Visual, to preview how it looks.

I know my friend Maya will be happy with this new feature because she too got frustrated that she couldn’t include her food photos on her food blog.

So, what do you think of Friendster blog’s new look? Want to hear your comments.

Have fun!

  1. Just an update, both url of my blogs (old and new) now pointed to one blog.

One problem, Friendster is still not able to bring back my old photo albums that I used to display at my old blog. If anyone knows how to bring them back like thru any plugins or configurations, let me know.

    Happy blogging!
